A reminder that the Sierra Sage Group of South Orange County is holding its
bimonthly meeting next week, May 27th at 7:00 pm at the Norman Murray Senior
and Community Center , 24932 Veterans Way, Mission Viejo, CA in the Juniper
Room.

The meeting is a great place to meet and talk with local folks who care
about the environment and enjoy, explore, and protect the wild places of the
Earth. We will let you know which hikes in the local hills are coming up
soon, and the status of the decommissioning of San Onofre Nuclear Generating
Station (SONGS) and other local issues.

The program of the evening will be a photo presentation of the wild and
wonderful places in the Pacific Northwest, including Mt. Rainer, the rain
forests of Olympic National Park, the Northern Washington Coast and beaches,
as well as Cape Flattery and the Makah Nation concluding with a ferry ride
to Victoria, British Columbia and the world famous Butchart Gardens.

We also want to thank everyone who attended our annual fundraiser at the
Audubon Society's Starr Ranch Sanctuary last Sunday. Approximately 90
people attended with the proceeds shared between the local Sierra Club Group
and the Sanctuary. Six hikes and two birdwalks were conducted during the
warm spring afternoon, while between the hikes, folks enjoyed the bluegrass
music presented by TEDD, a local bluegrass group. We hope to see all of you
next year!
