Sierra Club Members in South Orange County.
This is an invitation to attend Monday night's Mission Viejo City Council
Meeting. The viability of San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS)
affects all of us in South Orange County, both from a safety standpoint and
from a viable electricity generating standpoint. It now appears that SONGS
will be shut down all summer, the peak electrical demand period.

The topic of not restarting Units 2 & 3 at the San Onofre nuclear
facility is on the agenda of the Mission Viejo City Council. Activists
from San Clemente Green will give a ten minute presentation on Monday,
7/2 at 5:30pm. Since it is on the agenda, all attendees are invited to
make a 3 minute comment. The city council is being asked to make an
official decision to send letters and possibly sign a resolution for
keeping San Onofre shutdown. Information from Gary Headrick, San
Clemente Green.
