Monsanto, other biotech companies, launchwebsite to answer GMO-related questions
(edited)

The six major manufacturers of genetically modified seeds, including Monsanto, have launched a website they hope will help clearup confusion - and dispel mistrust - about their products.

The site, www.GMOAnswers.com, went live Monday.

"We recognize we haven't done the best job communicatingabout GMOs," said Cathy Enright, the spokesperson for the site, andexecutive director of the Council for Biotechnology Information.

The council, whose members include Monsanto, DuPont, Dow,Syngenta, Bayer and BASF, have enlisted the help of some 40 expertswho have agreed to field questions. The experts, from agriculture toacademia, will try to return with answers within a 24-hourwindow.

Public relations giant Ketchum will oversee the site.
