I have been following the thread on banning lead shot on the list serv with interest. I am in favor of the lead shot ban, but I feel much of the argument for the ban is lost in the minutiae of the debate about differing studies. I admit to not knowing much more about the topic than what I have read in the papers and on the listserv and talking with friends, but I have one perhaps naive point to raise.

Since lead shot is banned on federal land, why not more prominently emphasize that fact and the reasoning that went into that decision? That seems like quite a strong argument to me.
