DNR LIFTS BOIL ADVISORY FOR FERTILE
AND RYAN

DES MOINES— The DNR has lifted a drinking water advisory for
residents in the Delaware County town of Ryan and the Worth County town of
Fertile after water sampling has shown the water in both towns is safe to
drink.

In Fertile, the boil advisory was issued Tuesday after a main break and
failure of a high service pump drained the water tower and caused the
distribution system to lose pressure. The city has repaired the main break.

A boil advisory for Ryan was issued Tuesday after the DNR was alerted
that the city had lost water pressure at their facility Monday afternoon. An
error when putting the tower back into service after maintenance caused a water
main to break. The city will be sent a notice of violation for failure to
report and failure to comply with bacterial monitoring requirements prior to
putting a storage facility back into service.
