DNR ISSUES BOIL ORDER FOR LONE TREE IN JOHNSON COUNTY

LONE TREE – The City of Lone Tree issued a boil order for a five- to six-block area of the town after a break in a water main occurred Tuesday at about 10 a.m.
 
City officials will hand deliver the boil order to 34 affected residents in a small area along Linn Street where the break occurred.
 
The water main break caused a loss in pressure which can potentially cause contamination of the public drinking water. 
 
Boiling destroys bacteria present in the water. Water should be brought to a boil, boiled for one minute and then allowed to cool before using. More information on disinfecting water is available on the EPA Safe Drinking Water Hotline at (800) 426-4791.
 
Residents who receive the boil order should continue to boil water used for drinking or cooking, brushing teeth, food preparation or any other purpose involving human consumption until the boil order is lifted. City water may still be used for bathing
 
The city water supply plans to find the cause of the leak, fix it. The city will sample the water for bacteria on Tuesday. Water should be boiled until water samples come back showing the water is safe to drink.
