CALL FOR NEW MEMBERS OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY STRATEGY TEAM (EQST)

The Conservation Governance Committee (CGC) seeks additional members for
appointment to the Environmental Quality Strategy Team.  The EQST is one
of four Strategy Teams appointed by and reporting to the CGC.  EQST faces
new challenges to cleaning up and protecting our waters, air, and lands,
as well as our advocacy for environmental justice and corporate
responsibility.

The EQST and its committees facilitate effective action at all levels of
the
Club on these issues.  They help to shape Club policies and positions,
recruit
and apply necessary expertise, and assist grassroots activists.  Current
members
are Co-Chairs Marti Sinclair and Doris Cellarius, and Barbara Coman,
Maurice
Coman,
Bettye Harris, Rob Wilder, and Roy Hengerson.  For more information contact

To carry out its responsibilities, the EQST oversees five committees.

-- Air Committee
-- Corporate Accountability Committee
-- Environmental Justice Committee
-- Waste Committee
-- Water Committee

Strategy Team members are responsible for reviewing the work of the EQST
committees;
approving their membership and budgets; assisting them in developing
priorities and
strategies for addressing their issues; educating, organizing and
supporting
the
members on these issues; coordinating the work of the committees and other
work
on related issues; and creating additional committees as needed.

Applicants must be current Sierra Club members.  Sierra Club of Canada

may
have an interest in serving on the EQST, please pass this announcement on
