The conference will offer information on several topics with expert presentations in respective areas, such as changes in banking regulations and business climate that might affect businesses, disaster preparedness and overcoming environmental regulations.

Note that it says "overcoming" environmental regulations, not "complying with."

Iowa Environmental Conference scheduled in Des Moines Sept. 20

The Iowa Economic Development Authority and Iowa Association of Business and Industry (ABI) are hosting the 2011 Iowa Environmental Conference Sept. 20 at the Sheraton - West Des Moines.

The one-day conference will focus on current and emerging environmental issues impacting business and economic development in Iowa, as well as keeping up with regulatory issues and resources and understanding compliance issues for businesses.

"Growing sustainable business in Iowa requires increased knowledge by all sectors so we can work together on key business development issues and opportunities," Iowa Economic Development Authority Director Debi Durham stated in a press release. "This is an excellent opportunity to increase understanding and build partnerships vital to economic development in Iowa."

The conference will offer information on several topics with expert presentations in respective areas, such as changes in banking regulations and business climate that might affect businesses, disaster preparedness and overcoming environmental regulations.

The event's keynote speaker is Region VII Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Administrator Karl Brooks, who will provide an insight into EPA and Region VII's current activities. Featured speaker, Gov. Terry Branstad's General Counsel, Brenna Findley, will discuss Iowa's plan for regulatory reform. The day wraps up with an interactive opportunity to join a panel discussion on understanding environmental regulations and maximizing compliance.
