The Michigan State Medical Society adopted a
resolution supporting a moratorium on CAFOs this
weekend at their annual meeting. They also resolved to
support legislation to establish mandatory permits for
monitoring of adjacent waters and a phase-out of
open-air manure lagoons for CAFOs in Michigan. The
Society represents 14,000 physicians in the state.
