This is very important, especially to those of us in Iowa, where we are witnessing the best farmland in the world being destroyed by highway-induced urban sprawl. (Our farmland does not require irrigation, unlike California's Central Valley.)

Ruling changes playing field for proposed highways in the South

In a landmark ruling that has national implications, SELC scored a unanimous decision from the U.S. 4th Circuit Court of Appeals that NCDOT and the Federal Highway Administration broke federal law by failing to consider the sprawl-inducing impacts of the Monroe Bypass, a 20-mile proposed toll highway near Charlotte.
