This column is not a REGISTER editorial, but it is an example of  an 
outdoor column that appears in the REGISTER almost every week.    I'd rather see 
no outdoor coverage in the REGISTER than columns  like this.  For good 
outdoor coverage, I read the AMES TRIBUNE,  which carries a full page of 
well-written outdoor journalism  every week, journalism with an underlying 
conservation ethic.  Surely  Iowa's largest newspaper can do better than what's below.
