If the progressives all live in other districts this won't help.
Republicans are 60% of our district and they will vote Republican even if
their vote makes life worse for them. If joining facebook would bring an
army to the 5th district,to support a candidate who is pro environment,
not a drill baby drill, coal promoting Democrat, maybe the race would be
closer. I know the 3 of us who called every night for weeks did the best
we could. I've been to too many of King's town hall meetings and have
seen his followers face to face. They are incapable of rational thought.
King's supporters are exactly like him. At the moment I'm working on
issues where I know I'm making a difference in Iowa and on the national
level. That's keeping me positive. Phyllis
I too have hopes for redistricting, especially for the state races.
Meantime, an easy thing to do is join the facebook network of
progressives in Iowa. I'm continually encouraged by the common
viewpoints among people I wouldn't have assumed to be the case. Rural
Iowa issues become food issues becoming everybody's issues. And then
there's a facebook fan page called "Steve King is a nincompoop" -- be
sure to join that. Better to laugh than to cry sometimes out here in
the radical right-wing of Iowa.
