MISSOURI RIVER AUTHORITY TO DISCUSS IOWA’S VISION FOR THE RIVER

DES MOINES – An interagency, interstate group that makes recommendations on policies affecting the Missouri River will discuss recent developments at a 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 6 meeting in Des Moines.



The Missouri River Authority will meet in the DNR’s fourth floor west conference room at the Wallace Building, 502 E. Ninth St. The meeting is open to the public.



Group members will discuss how to develop an Iowa vision for the Missouri River.

    *   Missouri River Ecosystem Restoration Plan Baseline Assessment Technical Committees
       *   Riverine and Terrestrial Teams; Jan. 13 to 15 So. Sioux City
       *   Riverine; March 15 to 16 at Nebraska City; Terrestrial; March 22 to 23 at undetermined location.
       *   Final Meetings in July or August, 2010

Five Iowa agencies are represented on the Missouri River Authority. They include the Governor’s office; the Secretary of Agriculture: the Chair of the Utilities Board; and the Directors of the departments of natural resources, transportation and economic development or their designees.
