Jim,
Thanks for the message. I believe we will have a motion to reconsider
on the amendment, which I will probably support. That said, I'm not
sure I will support the bill, as I'm not confident of the DNR's ability
to "manage" the cougar population any better than they "manage" the deer
herd.
At this point, there is absolutely no comparison between managing the cougars
and bears and the deer herd. At this, point we are talking about protection
not reduction in numbers. Furthermore, I might suggest that the cougars would
help control the deer herd.
