For immediate release: APR. 30, 2013www.iowadnr.gov | facebook.com/iowadnr | twitter.com/iowadnr ACKLEY WATER TREATMENT MAIN RUPTURES MEDIA CONTACT: Jeff Vansteenburg at 641-424-4073 or [log in to unmask] ACKLEY – An Ackley, Hardin County, water treatment plant 8-inch main has ruptured and the entire system will be shut down to make repairs. Water Supply Superintendent Jack Boelman with PeopleService said the public school has been closed and the nursing home was immediately notified. The police chief is arranging door-to-door notification to residents. The water tower, which has a fire hydrant at its base, has been isolated. The stored water is available for tankers in case of fire. A boil advisory will be issued when repairs are made and the system is re-pressurized. Samples will be collect on two consecutive days to determine water safety before the boil advisory is lifted. The DNR is monitoring the situation. - 30 –
