REAP Alliance Members

Resource Enhancement and Protection!

Every day is REAP Day when it comes to an opportunity to educate about the
REAP program, but Tuesday, February 16, 2010 is going to be the official
REAP Day at the Iowa Capitol. This will be the day that we are asking for
as many REAP Alliance members as possible to visit in person with their
legislator at the Capitol, or at the very least send an e-mail, write a
letter or call and tell them what REAP has done for Iowa. If you attend in
person the best time is between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. There will not be
any displays or table for registration.

The message that you need to convey is to protect the integrity of the REAP
program because it is so important to natural resource conservation in Iowa.
TELL HOW IT IS IMPORTANT TO YOUR COMMUNITY, COUNTY OR ORGANIZATION. The
program is authorized at $20 million and has already been proposed to be cut
from $18 million to $12 million - that is a 33% cut and 60% of its
authorized level. This exceeds the level of cut in most other programs.
Please do your best to ensure that the REAP program falls no lower and
continues to provide much needed funding for Iowa's natural, cultural and
recreational resources.

If you need to find your particular legislator, you can go to the following
web site:
www.legis.state.ia.us

or

If you want more information about REAP or statistics, the following will
help you: www.iowareap.com

Remember February 16 and every day can be a REAP day.

We thank you for your help and participation.

Don Brazelton and Mark C. Ackelson, CoCoordinators
