CORALVILLE - A ruptured sewer force main in the middle of Clear Creek in Coralville sent less than 10,000 gallons of untreated wastewater into the creek Tuesday morning.

City staff were notified of the ruptured main about 8:30 a.m. and stopped the bypass by 12:30 p.m.

The area of the rupture is south of the railroad tracks, about one-fourth mile south of the 400 block on Highway 6.

The DNR asked that children and pets avoid contact with the stream for 48 hours.
