If we can elect more socially conscious folks, they are also environmentally aware too.. Look what party is now trying to sell off public lands.. drill on Public lands... There is more to life than making money... Compare the Parties as to who wants to gut the EPA... Find me a Current Republican who even knows it was in the Nixon Administration the EPA got its start...

Photo id requirements are another way to disrespect Moslems and other religions that don't believe in making graven images unto themselves.
But how is this a Sierra Club issue?

i have to weigh in on this. it's all a question of intent, isn't it? either we want to make it easy as possible for all citizens to vote, or 'we' want to suppress the vote. systems are easy to create that do either thing. it is obvious what the intent of many conservative politicians is. and i find that disgusting. I really like what Bernie Sanders said, that those who suppress voting are political cowards--they do not have confidence in their own ideas. so they have to cheat.
Also, having election day be a holiday and having all citizens be automatically registered makes the most sense to me.

Iowa has one of the best voting systems in the country. I have been a poll worker for 16 years and we have never had a fraud problem. Voting fraud is a felony and carries a prison sentence. If the would be voter's name is not listed in our records then, they must prove where they live with a rent receipt, utility bill or a passport. People who do not have driver's licenses because of age or who do not own a car are examples of voters who do not have id cards. Why is it that it is aways republicans who bring this up? And, why is it that in 16 years I have never seen a Democrat poll watcher. They are always republicans. Jerry

Sierra Club opposes voters having to show an ID. The article mentions that voter fraud is almost non existent.
