Tomorrow, Sierra Club members and friends are invited to participate in a
website project called,
"Every Day Matters: A Day in the Life of the Sierra Club." The idea is to
create an inspiring and powerful snapshot of what Sierra Club folks had
going on in one 24-hour period, keeping in mind that we are actually an
organization of 750,000 members whose environmental activism and ethics are
engaged 365 days a year.
Executive Director Carl Pope, Club President Lisa Renstrom, Sierra Club
Foundation Executive
Director John DeCock, noted Sierra Club Books author Rick Bass, a magazine
editor, a cartoonist, a commercial tree farmer, a religious leader, and a
host of people you might not expect will be included in this enviro mix. You
are encouraged to add your voice and encourage others you know to take part.
Your "Day in the Life..." will need to include a story (up to 300 words) and
a photo (preferably
digital) that tell the story of what you were doing or thinking about on
August 6 as it relates to your environmental activism or ethic. Hiking in
wilderness? Carrying a sign at a rally? Sitting at home contemplating what
got you involved in the movement and what keeps you going when the going
gets tough? Whatever it is, send your story and a photo that helps tell the
story.
Visit the Every Day Matters website at http://sierraclubstories.org to find
out more, and to make sure you're prepared to send us what we need on August
6.
If you can participate, please send an email to coordinator Jenny Coyle at
