Just to refresh your memory, Dr. Ignacio Chapela is the U. C. Berkeley
professor who was denied tenure essentially for questioning the University's role in
promoting biotechnology.

Dr. Chapela then moved his office outdoors as a form of protest.

Paul Goettlich gives permission to forward this.

  Dear Tom,

I spent some time with him in his "office" without walls in protest. I kept
hoping that someone from the administration would show up with the good
news
that he had been granted tenure. One night in his "office" without walls,
there
was a slide show on California Hall, the place of the regents I believe.
The
show was a history of the military-industrial connection and the beginnings
of
UC Berkeley. Iain Boal spoke also. He told me that he's nearly done with a
new
book he's writing on Luddites. I am sure that even though UC thinks it is
rid
of Dr. Chapela, they haven't heard the last of him. This action on the part
of UC only fuels his determination.... and mine as well.

I've put together an index of articles and papers about and by Ignacio
  Chapela at:
