The Farm Bill Conference Committee discussion has moved into "behind closed
door" deal-making mode.
Once the big deals get cut, you can usually expect the rest of the
provisions of the bill to move quickly through Conference.
Your calls are making a difference. It is CRITICAL that you make more calls!
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! PLEASE MAKE CALLS on MONDAY!
Taking action is easy!
Here's the message:
"Please tell the (Senator or Representative) to support the fully funded,
10-year Conservation Security Program as it was passed in the Senate Farm
Bill."
Here's how to deliver the message. Even if you have called on these issues
in the last day or two, we need you to do it again!
Simply call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask for your
Representative and Senators by name. If you do not know who they are the
switchboard operator can tell you based on your zip code. The operator will
then connect you with the appropriate office. Because you are calling your
Representative and two Senators you will be making 3 calls. Prefer to send
a fax? When you are connected with the office ask them for their fax
number and send a fax with the message above.
Why call Senators and Representatives who are not on the Farm Bill
Conference Committee? Non-conferees are not necessarily engaged in the farm
bill debate currently taking place in the Farm Bill Conference
Committee. They need to know what issues are at stake not only so they can
respond now to the Farm Bill Conference Committee, but also because they
need to be informed about issues that may or may not be included in the
Farm Bill that finally comes out of committee.
Want to hear the Farm Bill Conference Committee public discussion when it
resumes? You can visit the House Agriculture Committee website at
http://agriculture.house.gov/schedule.htm for the Conference Committee
schedule and a link to listen to the debate via the internet.
Thank you!

Conference Committee go to

act in support of as many of these issues as you are able. While every
issue we are fighting for is at risk, those highlighted in this alert are
particularly subject to serious attack.
