I received this survey from another source.  If you live in the Raccoon River Watershed, I encourage you to complete the survey.  I also encourage you to forward this message to others who live there.

------------

There is currently a planning process taking place to develop a Master Plan for the Raccoon River Watershed.  If you live in this watershed, I encourage you to follow the link to the survey copied below and provide your input into this process.  It will take 5 minutes or less to complete the survey.  Please, add your voice to this process.
  Survey Information:
Do you live in the watershed of Iowa’s Raccoon River?
The Raccoon River drains 3600 square miles of central Iowa including large portions of Buena Vista, Calhoun, Carroll, Dallas, Greene, Guthrie, Pocahontas, Polk, Sac, and Webster counties (see the yellow-highlighted area in the map below). The river has been documented as having very poor water quality. In fact, the watershed has been ranked by some as the highest source of nitrate loading into the Mississippi River.

Plans are underway to begin the process of developing a plan to improve water quality in the Raccoon River. Because you live in, farm, or work in this area, this plan may impact you. And, because of this, we’d like to know more about your knowledge and opinions regarding water quality in the river. Please follow the link below to complete a short, on-line survey. The survey should take 10 minutes or less to complete. Survey responses will be collected until May 16, 2010.

We’ll be using this information to help determine how to improve water quality in the watershed. Your answers will be kept completely confidential.  To complete the survey, simply click on the link below.

Water quality is important to us all. Thank you very much for your time and willingness to participate. Please consider forwarding this email to others in your address book who may also be stakeholders in the watershed.

p.s. Agren, Inc., has been hired by the M&M Divide RC&D and Iowa Department of Natural Resources to develop a plan for the Raccoon River Watershed. The planning process will involve many experts and watershed stakeholders. A final plan will be developed by June, 2011. If you have questions or concerns about this survey, or the planning process, please contact Jamie Ridgely at one of the numbers or email address below.
