Wednesday, April 26--
The Des Moines Progressives are showing the Sierra Club DVD, "The Day the
Water Died" on April 26th at 7p.m. at the West Des Moines Library Community
Room. The film is Sierra Club Production.
When: April 26th from 7pm to 9pm
Where: West Des Moines Library Community Room
4000 Civic Mills Rd West Des Moines
What: The Day the Water Died--Environmental information and action
Recently, ExxonMobil reported a whopping $36 billion in annual profits--yet
they still haven't paid a single penny of the court-ordered punitive damages
to compensate to the Alaskan fishermen whose livelihoods were tragically
destroyed in the Exxon Valdez oil spill. March 24th marked the 17th
anniversary of the spill.
"The Day the Water Died," the latest half-hour episode of the Sierra Club's
TV series, Sierra Club Chronicles, from award-winning producer Robert
Greenwald's Brave New Films (Outfoxed, and Wal-Mart: the High Cost of Low
Price) visits the still economically and emotionally afflicted fishing town
of Cordova, Alaska, where citizens are fighting to hold Exxon to its word in
a year of record profits.
