Things are moving very fast on the budget cuts for this year. If you have
time please call our senator, especially if they are a Republican.

The current budget ends in June of this year. There are de appropriations
bills being finalized this week. Department of Natural Resources is being
cut and so is Iowa Department of Land Stewardship. Money is being
transferred from Open Spaces in the REAP program to park maintenance. What
does this mean? Less money on new projects and that money goes to park
maintenance. Taking away money from REAP is a very bad thing. Of course we
want our parks maintained. How about money from the general fund to do that
and not REAP?

Our message is

Don't cut the budgets of DNR and IDALS.
Don't take money from the Open Spaces account in REAP

Call your senator at

*515-281-3371 <%28515%29%20281-3371>. *If they can't come to the phone ask
that a message be delivered to their desk.
