The easiest and best way to be an activist is to raise awareness thru letter
writing. Hand written or typed letters sent by US Mail are the most
effective. Grassley needs to hear from LOTS of people. Also send letters
to the Editor of your newspaper. Harken is not in favor of drilling up
there, so letters to him aren't that necessary unless you just call or Email
to let him know you're behind him on this issue. If you can organize a
meeting with your group, a letter writing party is a good idea. Have your
letter writing materials there and try to get everyone to write a letter.
You don't need to go into a lot of detail in the letter, just let them know
you are strongly against Drilling in The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge,
(ANWR) and why it is important to you. I will probably never get a chance to
visit ANWR but I feel good just knowing it is there. The more personal
feeling you put into it, the better. Jerry Neff
