2004 Candidate Forum and Candidate Discussion List

The Sierra Club has organized a candidate forum for this year's Board of
Directors election. It will allow members to make a more informed choice
when voting, by hearing directly from all the candidates on a variety of
topics.

Please note that not all candidates have joined the forum but there is
discussion about many of them.

Candidate Discussion List

A listserv has also been set up for the free discussion of the
qualifications of candidates for the upcoming election of the Club's Board
of Directors. The BOD-CANDIDATES-OPEN-FORUM discussion list is open to all
and only Sierra Club members.

Though all Club rules for use of the listservs and general expectations for
civility will be respected, no discussion thread will be categorically
disallowed. Subscribers may ask and answer questions about candidates, Club
policy, previous Board actions, etc. Postings to the list must relate to
the current election of directors.

Postings that discuss a person's actions, proposals and positions are
preferable to those that discuss the person her/himself. The latter class
of postings will be judged harshly in determining their appropriateness.
Personal attacks are discouraged.

There are over 700,000 members of the Sierra Club. Though we'd all love to
hear from each and every one of them, doing so on this list would decrease
its value to everyone. Consequently, the number of postings each day on
this list will be limited to 2 per subscriber and a total of 100 per day
from all subscribers. These numbers may be modified from time to time as
the usage of the list allows. Any change in the per-day numbers will be
announced to the list by a list owner.

Since the volume on this list could be quite high, please show courtesy to
fellow readers. Delete as much as possible of any previous posting while
still retaining the crux of the thread to which you are responding. Short
replies, like "Me too!" or "I agree," followed by the repetition of a
recent multi-screen posting will not be tolerated. Show your agreement and
your courtesy by removing most of the original message. Other subscribers
have already seen it, just as you did.
