This has been circulated from Jim Hoyer at Indiana Citizen Action
Coalition.

Lugar's Motion Kills Competition Title in a 9-12 Committee
Vote

By defeating the competition title yesterday, the Senate Agriculture
Committee missed an opportunity to address the massive problems faced by
Hoosier family farmers due to increasing corporate consolidation and
control of our food system.

Yesterday Senator Lugar made a motion to kill this
family-farmer-friendly title that needs to be a part of the next farm
bill. Lugar's motion passed 9-12 thus defeating the entire competition
title. There is still hope that the competition title will be
reintroduced when the farm bill goes to the entire Senate floor for a
vote.

Below I have included a list of Lugar donors who actively opposed the
competition title. I have also included the summary of what took place
during yesterday's committee hearing.

Feel free to contact Lugar and voice your opinion on what kind of a
job he did representing family farmers yesterday.

Below is a list of some of the organizations that actively opposed the
competition title and the amount of money they have
donated to Senator Lugar since 1997. The info was compiled from the
Federal Election Commission Website
(http://www.fec.gov/). It includes donations that have been posted on
the FEC website since the beginning of 1997. Some further donations
may have been made recently that are not as of yet posted. The
contributions were made to Senator Lugar's Committee, Friends of Dick
Lugar Inc. Oftentimes, the corporation or organization did not give the
money directly to Lugar's committee, but made the contribution through
their lobbying pac or political action committee. For example, Monsanto
gave $10,000 to Sen. Lugar through their pac, the Monsanto Citizenship
Fund:
