Iowa's Resources Enhancement And Protection (REAP) program was created by
the Iowa legislature in 1989, and each year invests about $16 million in
natural resources throughout the state. Iowa's REAP program represents one
of Iowa's largest and most consistent investments in wildlife, habitat,
public lands, cultural affairs and outdoor recreation programs. If fully
funded, it would receive $20 million in funds annually. You can learn more
about REAP's history and funding here.
What makes Iowa's REAP program unique from other similar efforts throughout
the country is its many opportunities for people to get involved. REAP
relies on public participation to help determine its funding priorities.
Whether you have very specific or very broad interests in resource
enhancement and protection, attending a REAP assembly is a chance for you to
make a difference.
