The Real ID Act allows the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security
the authority to waive all environmental laws in the construction of any
border wall. An authority that no one else, not even the president,
possesses.
Waiver of environmental laws has allowed building activity across protected
areas -- wildernesses, wildlife refuges, riparian areas and wildlife
habitats have been damaged, possibly irreparable, and wildlife migration
routes have been severed by the construction of the border wall.
This week activists from around the country are in Washington, DC lobbying
to change that. Please click on the link below, read the brief description
of the issue and take action to make a difference for our border's imperiled
wildlands and wildlife, and in support of Sierra Club activists from across
the country who are giving of their time this week in support of corrective
legislation, the Border Security and Responsibility Act (HR 2076), offered
by Congressman Raul Grijalva.

Allowing the waiver of environmental laws for the building of the border
wall is untenable and a dangerous precedent that must be reversed. Taking
action to speak out in support of our borderlands and wildlife will only
take a few minutes of your time.
Please take the requested action yourself and then forward this email to
others who might be willing to take action as well. Calls are needed in
support of our volunteers' work to advance the Sierra Club's position that
the authority to waive environmental laws must be rescinded.
If you're interested in learning more about the Borderlands Team and its
work, please contact me, Borderlands Team Chair, at

Thank you for joining me in taking action. My apologies for any duplicate
postings.
