Stewart Baldners letter on May 7 reminds me of students who when asked
to stop being disruptive say; I am not the only one. Why don't you get
the others to stop. This implies that they will stop only when others
stop first. Who should stop first; farmers or sewage treatment plants?
The answer is both. Stopping sewage pollution is one of Sierra Club's
water quality priorities. Along with the Iowa Environmental Council we
have worked to prevent sewage pollution through stronger water quality
standards and commenting on the permits issued to sewage treatment plants.
