MCGREGOR, LYTTON REPORT BYPASSES TO DNR

DES MOINES - Two Iowa cities reported wastewater bypasses to the DNR
on Wednesday.

In Clayton County, the City of McGregor began bypassing partially
treated wastewater at 8 p.m. Tuesday following a power outage. The power
outage damaged electronic controls at the wastewater treatment plant,
and the facility does not have a backup power supply.

McGregor is bypassing to the Mississippi River. If people are using the
river, they should avoid the area around the city's outfall to the
river. The DNR is asking the city to evaluate emergency power sources.

In Sac County, the City of Lytton began bypassing untreated wastewater
from a lift station at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday following heavy rainfall. The
wastewater is discharging to the West Fork of Camp Creek, which is a
tributary to the North Raccoon River. The bypass is ongoing, with
168,000 gallons already bypassed as of Wednesday morning.
