News Update From The Campaign to Label Genetically Engineered Foods
----------
Dear Health Freedom Fighters,
The Sunday New York Times featured a very disturbing article that discusses
the genetic pollution taking place from biotech crops.
("As Biotech Crops Multiply, Consumers Get Little Choice" by DAVID BARBOZA)
This article points out how organic and conventional crops are being
contaminated by genetically engineered crops.
As you are probably aware, The Campaign to Label Genetically Engineered
Foods launched an Action Alert on June 1st over this problem. We are asking
people to send form letters to Secretary of Agriculture, Ann Veneman,
requesting that an immediate moratorium be placed on the growing of any more
genetically engineered corn: http://www.thecampaign.org/usdacornalert.htm
Further, our Action Alert asks people to send letters to the members of the
Senate and House Agriculture Committees requesting oversight hearings on the
USDA. We want these Congressional Committees to ask Secretary Veneman why
she is continuing to allow this genetic pollution to take place.
Besides having form letters available to print out from our web site, we
have also set it up so that you can quickly send e-mails to the USDA and the
Senate and House Agriculture Committees. Although hundreds of you have
already sent e-mails, there are nearly four thousand of you who receive
these News Updates. That means over three thousand of you have not yet taken
the time to send e-mails about this issue.
SEND BOTH E-MAILS AND LETTERS TO THE USDA AND CONGRESS:
http://www.thecampaign.org/usdacornalert.htm
As we have stated before, letters mailed by the U.S. Postal Service will
have the most impact. But in this case, e-mails can also help gather the
attention we need to receive on this issue.
For your convenience, The Campaign is now making available pre-printed sets
of all 72 form letters that go to Secretary of Agriculture, Ann Veneman, the
20 members of the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee and
the 51 members of the House Agriculture Committee. The price for the
complete set of 72 form letters is $7.50 and this includes shipping to you
by Priority Mail: http://www.thecampaign.org/usdacornalert.htm
Please read the article and then TAKE ACTION by sending your letters and
e-mails to the USDA and Congress. We must stop the genetic pollution of
organically grown corn!
