Hope fire can help the Sequoias.
Driving past forests in the West you see the devastation caused by
beetles who are thriving because of warmer temperatures. They have
killed tens of thousands of trees! Jay Inslee, Congress District 21, now
running for Governor of WA was active in taking to the public about the
warming causing beetles to reproduce to the extent of killing alarming
numbers of Washington Trees in the Cascades. Suppression of fires have
directly caused the deadly fires we see now devouring even old growth
because of so much fuel. Will people ever learn?

At this point the only action I know how to take is get pro
environmental candidates elected. I took part in an all out Sierra Club,
C4. daily phone bank, knocking on doors day of election and driving
voters to the polls. Tomorrow I'll be phone banking in Lamoni for
Obama--our national forests under the direction of the tea party and the
Koch brothers is terrifies me. I'm grateful for all the training I
received with Sierra Club to give me the tools to be a better activist.
Phyllis

The Sierra Club board held its Spring meeting at Yosemite this year. We
were told that the Giant Sequoias could survive climate change but likely
will have difficulty reproducing. Fire stimulates growth for the
Sequoias. So, the plan is for the use of fire to help get new Sequoias
started now before the worst of climate disruption is upon us.
