The Vision Iowa board announces a public hearing to be held on Wednesday,
8/29/01, from 6-8:30 PM at the MFL Mar-Mac Middle School, 918 West Main
Street, McGregor, Iowa. The school is located on the north side of Business
18. Limited parking is available in the school parking lot; other parking is
possible along the highway. The hearing will begin promptly at 6 PM. Members
of the Vision Iowa board, and staff of the Iowa Department of Economic
Development, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, and Iowa Attorney
General's Office will be in attendance. Vision Iowa Board Chair Michael
Gartner will moderate the hearing.

The purpose of the meeting will be to take public comment from area
residents and others concerning the proposed McGregor/Marquette Area Legacy
project which is described as follows: Destination hotel, golf course/winter
park, recreational trail, fishing pier, downtown renovation projects,
lighting projects and recreation/community center near natural assets of
Mississippi River, Effigy Mounds National Monument, Pikes Peak State Park,
Yellow River Forest, Fish Farm Mounds and Bloody Run County Park. An
application has been submitted for Vision Iowa funding for this proposal,
and public comment will be considered as the board decides whether to award
financial assistance to the project.

All in attendance will be asked to sign in and indicate whether they are
interested in speaking about the project. Written comment may also be
submitted at the hearing; or from any time before the hearing through 9/4/01
via hand delivery, regular or special delivery mail, fax or e-mail to:
