The EPA released its Notice of Data Availability for the Mercury Rule this
past week. We now have a 30-day comment period to tell them they haven't
looked hard enough into potential controls or the consequential health
issues that would indicate increased mercury controls are needed sooner
(above the proposed levels of 70% by 2018) on all existing power plants.

Please check www.iowa.sierraclub.org/TakeAction-Iowa.htm to download and
print a postcard you can mail to EPA Director Mike Leavitt expressing your
concern about the Bush administration's mercury control strategy. Your
postcard must be postmarked by 12/30/04.
