Each utility in Iowa offersan energy efficiency program. Theprogram offerings include energy audits and rebates on the purchase of energyefficient appliances, water heaters, and furnaces.

A bill was recentlyintroduced in the Iowa Senate that would gut those programs for all utilitiesin the state.

We all win with these energyefficiency programs.
· Energy efficiencyprograms reduce the need for the utilities to build expensive new power plantswhich keeps costs to consumers like us low. New power plants are expensive and result in increased costs on yourutility bills.
· Your own costsare reduced by the rebates when you buy an energy efficient appliance, as wellas reduced costs on your utility bills.
· Installingefficient appliances and efficient furnaces reduces the amount of pollutingemissions.

The most economical andcleanest method of meeting our energy needs is through increased conservationand efficiency. That is why SSB3078should be rejected.

Tell your State Senator thatyou want him or her to oppose SSB3078.

The three Senators who are onthe Ways and Means subcommittee who will review the bill are

Senator Randy Feenstra - [log in to unmask]
