The first five "electioneering" messages that I received this year about
Sierra Club's Board election came from Groundswell. Those first five
messages came all in one day. I have to assume that Groundswell "harvested"
e-mail addresses from several Sierra Club sources.

Years ago, in a similar situation, when a candidate for the board was
perceived to be a threat to some members, I received many messages from
across the country that were derogatory in nature toward that candidate, so
this is nothing new.

I have heard that members are receiving a postcard supporting certain
candidates and I saw one of those postcards yesterday. What members' list
was used for mailing the postcards and how did they get the list? I can
imagine if this postcard were sent to members across the country it cost
quite a bit and I wonder who funded the mailing.
