Hi Jane,
You and I have talked in the past about the Arctic Refuge Campaign, and I
wanted to let you know that we are still looking for folks from Iowa to
come
to a great event in DC this February called Arctic Wilderness Week. This is
a
great opportunity to contribute your knowledge, experience, and time to the
Arctic Refuge campaign, and we would love to have you with us!

I've included a little additional information below. Please call or e-mail
me if you have any questions. I hope you will consider joining us in
Washington to make a difference for the Arctic Refuge.

Best wishes,
Jen

*ANNOUNCING Arctic Wilderness Week 2001*

TRAVEL TO WASHINGTON TO HELP US RING IN THE NEW CONGRESS AND
ADMINISTRATION!

(AND MAKE IT A HAPPY NEW YEAR FOR THE ARCTIC REFUGE)

February 24 - 28, 2001
Washington, DC

**Register TODAY at http://www.alaskawild.org/Wildernessweek**

On February 24 - 28, 2001 Sierra Club, The Wilderness Society, the Alaska
Wilderness League, and the Alaska Coalition are cosponsoring Arctic
Wilderness Week, an advocacy and leadership training in Washington, DC

At Arctic Wilderness Week you will:
- Meet other Arctic Refuge advocates from all over the country
- Learn and improve advocacy skills applicable to any campaign
- Meet face to face with members of Congress
- Fight for permanent protection of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge
- Have an unforgettable time in Washington, DC!

Arctic Wilderness Week is an opportunity for you to dedicate your ideas,
energy, and passion to the campaign to protect the Arctic Refuge and its
dazzling array of wildlife--polar bears, grizzlies, caribou, and thousands
of migratory birds--from the ravages of oil and gas development.

You'll start your Washington DC experience with an informal reception
Saturday night. Sunday will be filled with issue briefings and intensive
advocacy and media workshops, taught by dynamic and experienced individuals
who share your passion for Alaska's wild lands! On Monday through Wednesday
you'll put those skills to use as you "storm Capitol Hill" and meet with
your own congressional Representative and Senators and their staffs. This
is
your chance to make your voice heard!

Don't wait to let us know YOU want to come to Arctic Wilderness Week! Space
is limited. Please visit our Arctic Wilderness Week website at
http://www.alaskawild.org/Wildernessweek or contact Jen Schmidt at
(202)544-5205 or [log in to unmask] for more information.
We hope to see you in Washington!
