The soybean aphid is also an example of an invasive exotic species which
has a serious economic impact. In addition, soybean aphids winter on
Eurasian buckthorn, one of the top problem invasive exotic plant species in Iowa.
Our national policies and regulations for keeping out potential and known
invasive exotics are very inadequate, and so is enforcement. We can't
keep them all out, but we could be doing a better job than we are now.
