There are no guarantees that our calls will save the Arctic Refuge but IT
IS A GUARANTEE WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF WE DON'T CALL!! Phyllis Mains
The Nussle call alert is attached and below.

Nussle CALL ALERT:

Earlier this month, President Bush said in his State of the Union speech
that the United States was addicted to oil. Unfortunately, the very next
week, he included a proposal in his budget to open the Arctic National
Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling!
Congress will be considering the President’s budget over the next two
weeks and will decide whether or not to follow the President’s misguided
policy on drilling in the Arctic. Drilling is no answer to our future
energy need; it is a misguided policy being pushed by special interest
oil corporations. Your congressman, Jim Nussle, is Chairman of the Budget
Committee and plays a critical role in determining whether or not Arctic
drilling is included in the congressional budget. He is the gatekeeper.

Last year Congressman Nussle said he didn't think a drilling proposal
belonged in the federal budget. Nevertheless, he provided a huge loophole
that allowed for a sneak attack on America's Arctic Refuge. Arctic
drilling was included in, and nearly brought down, the entire budget
until it was removed by a coalition of moderate Republicans and Democrats
in the final hours of the session.
NOW is the time to call Congressman Nussle and ask him to make sure the
Budget is clear of special interest policy items. Policy changes like
opening the Arctic Refuge to drilling do not belong in the budget. Please
take action today so we can end the debate on this now, and move on to
real, clean, energy solutions.
TAKE ACTION NOW: CALL Congressman Nussle at (563) 326-1841 and ask him to
keep controversial issues like Arctic drilling out of the budget this
year. If you call after hours and want to leave a message, please
remember to include your name and address in your message.
Thanks so much! With your help we can ensure that the Budget stays clean
and the Arctic Refuge stays protected.
