Iowa Department of Natural Resources Environmental Services Division For Immediate Release January 9, 2008 DNR LIFTS BOIL ADVISORY FOR MAYNARD DRINKING WATER MEDIA CONTACT: Mike Wade, DNR Manchester field office, at (563) 927-2640. MAYNARD - The DNR is no longer asking Maynard residents to boil their drinking water after bacteria samples collected Tuesday did not contain coliform bacteria. The Maynard Water Supply reported to the DNR Tuesday morning that a major water main break under the Little Volga River occurred sometime Monday. Due to the potential for bacterial contamination, the DNR recommended that residents boil the water before using it for drinking or cooking, or to use an alternative source of water. The city has repaired the water main along the stream crossing but has not yet returned it to service. -30-
