To all individuals and organizations,

The American Lands Alliance is working to gather public comments in support
of strengthening the 18 month moratorium on road building in National
Forests and wilderness areas of 1,000 acres or greater (or smaller where
ecologically significant). Large tracts of the Pacific Northwest and
Alaska are exempt from this moratorium, and the legal loopholes are
abundant.

We are aiming to gather a minimum of 200 public comments in Iowa by March,
and we are planning a press conference for mid-January, and would like as
many organizations to sign on to this press conference as possible. We are
looking for as many faith-based and scientific community members to comment
as well as members of environmental and student groups. Now is a critical
time to demonstrate that, across the nation, people support the moratorium
and seek permanent protection of our National Heritage Forests.

We will be holding a meeting in Des Moines during the first Week of January
and will let everyone know about the date, time and location soon. We look
forward to working with all of you. Together we can send a strong message
to Washington, that America will not stand by and let our forest ecosystems
go to the chopping block. Please feel free to contact me with any ideas or
suggestions.
