SATURDAY, JUNE 25: BICYCLE RIDE, 8:30 A.M.

High Trestle Trail, Central Iowa

Join us for a bike ride on part of the High Trestle Trail Saturday morning,
June 25th. We will meet at the Dahl's parking lot on NW 86th St. in Johnston

[log in to unmask]   to RSVP. Our ride will include traveling over the
newly-opened High Trestle Bridge. The High Trestle Trail is a 25-mile trail
that will connect 4 counties and 5 communities in Central Iowa. The trail
includes a magnificent 13-story, 1/2-mile bridge over the Des Moines River
Valley.  Difficulty:   easy to moderate.   Helmets are required and bring
water and/or snacks.

Meet at the official parking lot on County Road K10 (Adams Ave.) and we will
probably carpool to another unmarked entrance. 

Description: Visit this unique area that is formally dedicated as a
geological, archaeological, historical, and biological state preserve. It is
known for its natural outcrop of Sioux Quartzite and native plants that are
rare in Iowa.  This outing is NOT a Sierra Club event, but is open to all.
