Last week, the Environmental Working Group launched <http://www.mapscience.org
>, an interactive website that allows users to enter their addresses and
returns detailed maps that show their proximity to the proposed nuclear waste
transportation routes. These maps originate from government documents that
were not readily available to the public.
A number of these routes run through Iowa, passing by millions of homes,
schools, and hospitals. The Senate is preparing to vote on the Nevada (Yucca
Mountain) nuclear waste repository with the next few weeks. That means these
routes could become permanent, putting the health and safety of Iowans and
our communities at risk.
Please visit the website created by the Environmental Working Group, to see
how closely the nuclear waste could be passing by your house or your kids'
schools. Then contact Senators Harkin and Grassley, to let them know that
Iowans DO NOT want nuclear waste coming through our state.

Senator Grassley's DC number: 202-224-3744 Des Moines:515-284-4890
