This is a heads up about a upcoming event.

The University of Iowa Lecture Committee has secured a speaking
engagement with world famous California Tree Sitter, Julia Butterfly
Hill.  It will be on Thursday Nov. 2.

As you may know the Iowa City Area Group of the Sierra Club had tried
to bring her to Iowa along with the possible assistance of other
Sierra Club groups, the Environmental Advocates of Johnson County and
the Univ. of Iowa Environmental Coalition.  However due to
overwhelming popularity, her new agent has restricted all engagements
to only University forums at this time.  So the University of Iowa
Lecture Committee stepped to bring Julia to Iowa.

In the coming weeks I will be finding out how we can assist the
Lecture Committee with this event.  I do not know yet if we will
still be able to co-sponsor the event.  In either case, it should be
a great opportunity to hear about her wonderful story first hand.
