Just a Followup with Great EVEC News!

Last evening Erin Jordahl, Mike Shaw (who was the voice in one of our EVEC
radio ads) and myself, met at the office for 2.5 hours, and in that time
targeted calls to a list of Sierra Members in County Seat towns in the 4th
Congressional District. These were towns basically łoutside˛ the existing
Sierra Groups. Calling just 2-5 people in each of them we obtained
commitments from 1-3 people in each town who would take responsibility for
200-400 Voter Guides door to door, and to have them complete by October 20.
Today I shipped by Priority Mail 11 packets for a total of 2200 Voter
Guides.

They will be distributed door to door in the following towns:

Estherville, Emmetsburg, Mason City, Decorah, Boone, Nevada, Story City,
Perry, and Winterset.

In addition, 1600 will be taken door to door next Saturday, 10/19, in
Indianola, and probably 1000 in Ames. High school kids and a few Sierra
volunteers are taking 300 to Adel next Tuesday.

The key was...it was measurable and doable. And when asked people responded.

Now if the Club Group Leaders, in Eagle View, White Pine, Cedar Prairie,
Cedar Wapsie, Northwest, Iowa City and Leopold, can pick up the challenge,
with about 500 per group, we will have met all our goals! And that many
pieces door to door in one week all over the state will make a big
difference. Isnąt that what we are all about! Those candidates will notice!

Thanks for helping make it happen in your Group!

THANKS. THANKS. THANKS! To Erin and Mike, and the brand new Sierra Club
Volunteers who are making it happen in their communities!
