Forwarded by Jane Clark from Mike Delaney of NRWA:

North Raccoon Watershed Association, Iowa Rivers Revival, and Friends:

We are privileged to have Professor Flora as our guest speaker in Perry at
the Hotel Patee on Saturday, July 1 at 10:00 a.m. She will talk about the
North Raccoon River and Regional Rural Development. Dr. Flora is an
internationally known scholar and consultant. She will explain the various
forms of capital present in the Raccoon Watershed and its communities. She
will explain how these forms of capital, including "Natural Capital" can be
used to the long term benefit of the Raccoon Valley populace.

This presentation is open to the public and there is no charge for
admission. Lunch will be available after her presentation at the Hotel Patee
for $15. Please respond to me, Mike Delaney by e-mail or phone
(515-277-3279) if you plan to attend and/or if you plan to join us for
lunch.

Cornelia Butler Flora is the Charles F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor of
Agriculture and Sociology at Iowa State University and Director of the North
Central Regional Center for Rural Development, located at Iowa State
University. She is author and editor of Interactions Between Agroecosystems
and Rural Communities, Rural Communities: Legacy and Change, Rural Policies
for the 1990s, and Sustainable Agriculture in Temperate Zones. She was
recently named by the Secretary of Agriculture to the National Agricultural
Research, Education and Economics Advisory Board.

I can send you a copy of her publication, "Social Aspects of Water Systems"
if you wish.
