MINING REPORT CRITICIZES WV: The Office of Surface Mining completed a
report on West Virginia's handling of mountaintop-removal mining
permits, according to the 12/9 Charleston Gazette. The report was much
less critical of the state's policies than a draft released in August,
but still found the state fails to strictly apply strip-mining laws.
The OSM, http://www.osmre.gov , is accepting public comment on the
report until 1/15.
