WASTEWATER DISCHARGE IN IOWA CITY REACHES IOWA RIVER
MEDIA CONTACT: Bert Noll at (563) 653-2135.
IOWA CITY – An unknown amount of wastewater was discharged from a plugged sewer line near the intersection of Foster Road and Laura Drive in Iowa City earlier this week.
The discharge flowed less than three-quarters of a mile to the Iowa River. The sewer line serves a mobile home park.
A local resident reported the discharge to the DNR on Thursday at 4:15 p.m. noting that standing water had been in the area for several days.
City officials have unplugged the line and are pumping up standing wastewater. They plan to lime the affected areas.
