At a recent Sierra Club training session, speakers estimated that 25 million
Americans would follow in the footsteps and in the wake of Lewis and Clark.
The Sierra Club campaign to protect the lands explored by the Corps of
Discovery is expanding to include Iowa. Our key goals are to protect the
Loess Hills of Western Iowa and recover some of the natural flow to the
Missouri River, thereby protecting many imperiled species.
If you could help us by becoming part of the statewide committee, you might
find yourself sharing these important conservation goals.
Expectations:
Brainstorming sessions to organize
Camping in the Loess Hills to familiarize ourselves with prairie remnants
Help in writing a grant proposal to the national campaign
Please consider joining us in this effort or identifying friends who want to
take part.
